Embody Control Mode

The Avatar v1 allows, embodied control mode, where the movements of the operator are mimicked by the Avatar system.

Following could be controlled using the embody control mode,

  1. Pan Tilt Mechanism (Head)

  2. Left Arm, end effector (Inspire Hand or any other) and the elbow.

  3. Right Arm, end effector (Inspire Hand or any other) and the elbow.

Avatar Interaction Points for Embodyment Mode

Note : During the embody control mode, the torso movements are currently frozen.

To use the Avatar v1 in embody control mode, follow the following instructions,

  • Using the grasping actions move to the head of the avatar (position of the operator should be roughly similar to the position of the avatar head)

  • Scale the VR scene such that the robotic arms are roughly same size of operator arms.

  • Using the steps mentioned in how to use, enable Robot Control Mode

  • Position your hands, elbow and head near the interaction zones, and then Engage Manual Control via the speech command

  • The robot will start moving based on the motion of the operator hand and head movement.

  • To stop the control give the command Disable Manual Control

Note : When head connection is first established, it will rotate to the user's direction.
