Cortex Firmware Configuration

The firmware is pre-installed on the Cortex device when configured and shipped by Extend Robotics. The firmware can be updated by following the steps in the Over-the-Air Firmware Update

If you are setting up your own hardware, please get in touch with the team at support@extendrobotics.com.

After the Cortex firmware is set up/updated, all the sensors and robots attached to the Cortex need to be configured on the Command Console. Settings such as

  • Communication Ports (ROS Port) for both robots and sensors

  • Robot Specific Settings such as end effectors, robotIP (IP of the physical robot), etc.

  • Sensor Specific Settings such as FPS, colour compression, data ports (extra communication port for sensor), etc

  • Relationship with other Cortexes in the network. If the Cortex being configured is a primary device or secondary (dependent on the process in primary).
